In this tutorial, you will learn how to know where an e-mail was sent and what is the server name.
No matter what software you use to get e-mail, this steps are the same, but with a little chages in names.
- Let's say you use "Outlook Express 6.0" to see your e-mails.:
1- Right click on an e-mail and click "Properties".
2- On the tab, click "Details".
3- In the text box, you will see the e-mail headers, go to the 6th line which begins with "Return-Path".
4- Look for the first numbers after the "Return-Path", it's usually in the end of the 7th line. e.g. [145.243.187.17]
5- Click here and paste that number in the text box, then click "Lookup" to know what is the server name.
6- Click here and paste that number in the text box next to the sentence "IP Address to locate:" and click "Submit" to know from where the e-mail was sent.
7- In Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail... click something like "Show Full Headers"
